We are committed to a partnership model in working
with young people. That means we work with community youth
organisations and schools rather, than the young people themselves.
In the same way as personal growth needs to be nurtured and
developed over an extended period if it is to be of real value
to the individual and the community, so we prefer to work
in long term partnerships.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING TO ACHIEVE
Personal Development
Increase in self-efficacy, i.e. able to overcome
perceived barriers to learning and progress;
More accurate self-perception gained through
living and working together;
Greater understanding of personal potential;
Greater commitment to achieve potential
in life.
Social Development
Broadened horizons gained through new experience;
A more positive view of adult relationships
gained through experiencing an
intensively challenging and
supportive environment;
Increase in willingness and ability to work
together with others, adults and
peers.
OUTDOOR
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING COURSES
We have designed and run a whole range of courses –
but each is developed with
are fully integrated into our partners’
ongoing programmes. The courses are designed to support our
partners’ targets for learning and change. Our courses
provide a relatively short but intensive experience within
which both students and staff learn and grow.
“adventure residentials” are designed to enable
young people to address some of the key issues they face.
They have been a focal point of our partnerships where, with
a partner youth project, we provide a supportive, encouraging
and reflective environment for young people as they tackle
unfamiliar and challenging situations. They are memorable
and unique opportunities for personal growth.
